What’s the difference between a blind and a shade?
It’s easy to get these terms confused; after all, they perform very similar functions! But there is a difference. Blinds cover windows with horizontal or vertical strips of hard material called slats, while shades typically use one piece of fabric or other pliable material.
My blinds still look good; is there any point in replacing them?
They may look good, but how do they operate? Too many people have one or two (or more!) windows whose blinds have stopped functioning. You don’t have to put up with afternoon glare; installing new blinds is easier and more affordable than you think! And blinds are not what they were just a few years ago; cordless models are far safer than corded ones if you have small children or pets in the home, and motorized models will raise and lower blinds at scheduled times.
I’m going to be replacing my windows soon; do I need to change my blinds too?
That’s a good question — and the answer is, it depends. If you’re upgrading from an old-fashioned, inefficient single-hung window to an energy-efficient newer model, your window frame might take up more room, leaving less room for blinds or other window treatments. And if you’re changing frame size, your old blinds won’t cover the new frame space the same way. When in doubt, call our team; we can determine if your old blinds will fit your new windows.
